Sequoyah Hills

A white colored home in Sequoyah HillsAsk any Knoxvillian to name the most prestigious neighborhoods in Knoxville and most will have Sequoyah Hills on their list. Developed in the 1920s, it was one of the city’s first suburban developments and drew many of the city’s most affluent citizens from downtown. A number of homes were designed by the renowned architectural firm, Barber McMurray, and several luminaries have called this neighborhood “home.” Cherokee Boulevard anchors the area with a large park on the shores of Ft. Loudon Lake and a beautiful drive enjoyed by walkers, joggers, and bikers. Sequoyah Hills is convenient to the University of Tennessee and Downtown Knoxville and while it’s known for its elegant mansions, there are many homes suitable for first-time homeowners and a slew of apartments and condominiums in what is known as “the village.” Sequoyah Elementary is a terrific school located in the heart of the neighborhood. There is also a public library, a church, a gym, and a restaurant in the village.
